Toukoto – A Community With a History

In December 2018, we launched our ImpactSite® in the Toukoto community. Some houses and facilities in the community were already equipped with technical installations such as light switches and lamps before we started our work. Since the electrification, these can finally be used with the solar power from our Solartainer® Amali.

Between Tradition and Industrialisation

Toukoto is located northwest of the capital Bamako, on the border with Mauritania. This is where the only train line between Dakar and Bamako used to run. Today, the train line is out of service. Nevertheless, the community benefits from its location between the big river Bakoy and the edge of the Baoul National Park.

Outlook – What's Next for Toukoto?

In and around Toukoto, mobile phone reception is relatively poor. Therefore, we plan to expand the Solartainer on site with our LinkUP and provide our clients with internet and thus enable access to communication, media and education via a hotspot.
