Welcome to the Africa GreenTec Foundation e.V.´s landing page which is currently under construction (www.foundation.africa greentec.com). Our organization is a non-profit founded in 2016 by the founders and employees of the Africa GreenTec Group in Hainburg, Germany.
While Africa GreenTec is a social business focused on technical solutions for renewable energy, the Africa GreenTec Foundation primarily works towards empowering vulnerable communities such as women, children and refugees by providing access to educational programs and promoting sustainable development in the field of humanitarian aid. The foundation’s capacity training programs focus on providing skills and knowledge to individuals and communities, particularly in the areas of agriculture, entrepreneurship, and energy. By empowering vulnerable communities in this way, the foundation aims to help them become more self-sufficient and less reliant on external aid.We strive to move beyond traditional development aid by creating a co-operations that fosters a mutual learning process.
In contrast to classic development aid, the association develops projects in which the assets are financed with donations or subsidies, but the operation and sustainable management of the project is financially self-supporting, so that the users of the project earn a sufficient income from the asset.
The Africa GreenTec Foundation is dedicated to providing humanitarian and development aid in Africa, with a particular focus on empowering women, reducing post-harvest loss, and implementing cold chain solutions. As the philanthropic and charitable part of the Africa GreenTec Group, we work towards improving the livelihoods of sub-Saharan African communities through innovative and sustainable solutions. Our organization is committed to addressing key challenges related to energy access, food security, and water scarcity. Our approach involves leveraging technical solutions, facilitating networking opportunities, offering education and skills workshops, and partnering with local organizations to empower vulnerable communities and foster a sustainable and prosperous future in Africa.
At Africa GreenTec Foundation, we value inclusion and recognize the expertise of the communities we serve. We work collaboratively with them to create tailored solutions that are impactful and sustainable. Our goal is not just to provide aid but to empower people to become self-sufficient and generate their income.
We are a passionate team committed to creating lasting change. Our new approach involves training and business models that promote economic independence. We believe that true sustainability requires a holistic approach, which is why we provide financial literacy and training programs to create new economic opportunities. By breaking the cycle of aid dependency, we’re creating a brighter future for African communities.
We prioritize cooperation with other actors to achieve long-term, sustainable success. We measure project success against the Sustainable Development Goals and communicate transparently with our stakeholders. We believe that working together is essential to achieving our mission and creating a better future for Africa.

The project aims to address the lack of suitable cold storage facilities in refugee camps. In UNHCR Refugee Camp Mbara in Mauritania, which hosts over 120,000 refugees who have fled Mali due to ongoing terror, oppression, and climate change effects, the refugees face challenges of not being able to return to their hometowns, lack of job opportunities, and basic amenities like electricity and cold chains. With no proper means of storing perishable foods, 40 % of the fruit and vegetable harvests in sub-Saharan Africa go to waste, and smallholder farmers and retailers in the region also suffer losses due to spoilage of their produce.
The Africa GreenTec Foundation is addressing this issue by installing a Cooltainer in Mbara by fall 2023.Africa GreenTec’s Changemakers Program is a comprehensive initiative aimed at empowering local farmers and entrepreneurs in Africa. Through the program, we provide training, resources, and a global network to nurture resilient agriculture and promote entrepreneurship, ultimately working to end hunger and poverty in the continent.
Our Program focuses on empowering local farmers and entrepreneurs. Through farmer training, online and offline events, and counseling to fill a directory of local suppliers in Africa, we aim to increase the consumption of family farmed produce and products and promote local marketing that is profitable for everyone in the value chain.
In partnership with the Ghana Food Movement, we’ll be organizing the first in-person forum on local production in West Africa. The forum will bring together stakeholders to discuss the potentials and challenges of local consumption in their region.
Through our industry food tours we want to connect chefs, retailers, politicians, and rural producers, establishing partnerships that will help promote sustainable agriculture and end hunger and poverty in Africa. By working in collaboration with all stakeholders, we strive to create a brighter future for our continent while valuing and celebrating its unique food culture.
